Women's Ministry

The Women's Ministry at Sherwood exists to lead women to accept Christ as Lord and Savior, to develop intimacy with Christ through deep prayer, to study and trust the Word of God to guide their daily lives, and to effectively minister to others. This ministry, although based out of Sherwood Baptist Church, is truly a ministry to Albany and the surrounding communities. We have women of all backgrounds, denominations, and walks of life involved in the various aspects of our Women's Ministry.

Precept – 1 Thessalonians*
9:30 am | January 9 - April 30 (class will not meet on March 12 or April 2)
FAITH 211 | Stephanie Bennett
Amid persecution and local conflict, Paul wrote to encourage the continued faithfulness of the believers in Thessalonica. He instructed them in exemplary Christian living and inspired hope in the community by pointing to the coming kingdom and the return of Christ. Join us as we study verse-by-verse through this letter, praying that “the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ” (5:23).

Anxious – Fighting Anxiety with the Word of God*
9:30 am | January 9 - February 27
FELLOWSHIP 103-106 | Sharber
In a world full of sin and doubt, the battle is for our minds. God wants us to abide in Him. He desires that you live in peace that passes all human understanding. Worry robs us of that peace, but we have all we need to conquer our fears and thrive despite our circumstances. How do we make a home in God’s Word? How do we allow the promises of the Bible to lead us and follow the voice of our Lord to perfect peace?  Come join us and find out.

In View of God’s Mercies – The Gift of the Gospel in Romans*
9:30 am | March 5 - May 14
FELLOWSHIP 103-106 | Sharber
This study is a rich walk-through of Paul’s letter to the church in Rome. Romans teaches us that salvation is just the first step in an eternal journey with Christ. Because of the Gospel, our present reality in Jesus is that we have hope, peace, life, joy, faith, trust and endurance. He has accomplished our salvation and now we rest in him as he accomplishes the work of sanctification in us as well.

Be “TRANSFORMED”
ABCC 101 | Morgan + Nowicki
Are you serious about your sobriety? Join us each Wednesday night as we walk through this biblical, scripture-saturated curriculum that takes the Next Steps beyond the goal of recovery and sets the eternal goal of TRANSFORMATION through Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit and God’s word. 2 Cor. 3:18 And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.

Known Study of Identity
Fellowship 103 + 104/105 + 106 | Bland
Would you like to start this new year of 2024 being confident in who you are and sure of your identity? That knowledge will affect how you relate to others. Join us in this study of identity as we do some self-reflection and discover what the Bible says about identity. We will study for eight weeks and use the book, Known, by Yarrow, an arm of Precept Ministries. There is no homework.  We will do the lessons in this book in class each week. Our prayer is that you will finish this study with a greater understanding of your value and worth as you discover your identity.
